Oh yeah, I have a blog.

YES!  All of the rumors are true!  I am still alive!  I know it's been a very long time since I've last written a blog post (way longer than I had first expected), but last week I found myself inspired to keep all of you up to date on what has been going on, but then, all of a sudden, when I clicked "post," blogger completely digested my blog post and left nothing but the title (which is weird since I made the title for it at the very end...at first I thought maybe it wasn't saving properly, but that it deleted what I put in first makes me suspicious that blogger somehow has an evil plot against me...*shrugs*).  Anyway, here I am now, and happily typing this up beforehand in notepad before letting blogger touch it. ^_^

Anyway, the original reason why I hadn't been posting so much is because overall things have begun to settle down and I have found myself going through a relatively consistent routine.  It's at this point that the week numbers are beginning to surprise me (yesterday started week seven...I KNOW?!).  Anyway, we've been continuing steadily with our Tuesday and Thursday rotations.  As you might remember from a previous blog post of mine, we have a total of four rotations per week, and do an hour for each of them, making two rotations for Tuesday morning, and two rotations for Thursday morning.  Before that, we stretch and warm up for 45 minutes, and afterwards we condition for 15 minutes.  Below is the breakdown of the stations that my group has been having (the groups are fine tuned every week):

WEEK 3: Fabric and Handbalancing, Partner Acro and Trapeze
WEEK 4: Spanish Web and Duo Trapeze, Chinese Pole and Wire
WEEK 5: Fabric and Handbalancing, Hoop Diving and Trapeze
WEEK 6: Spanish Web and Duo Trapeze, Chinese Pole and Wire

So, as you can see, they, for the most part, alternate pretty well, except for the addition of hoop diving in week 5.  Hoop diving was a complete blast, by the way, and I'm planning on taking a combined private with two other protrackers in November (1.5 hours of it! :D).  We'll be like Les 7 Doigts de la Main one day.  One day.

Chinese pole has been a total failure as usual.  I'm definitely finding it to not be my apparatus.  Particularly so because they don't tape the pole (so they just have it straight on metal), and I tend to sweat a lot, so all that really happens is I grab on and just slide down.  Not exactly the most impressive thing in the world.  (Maybe that's why I like fabric so much...it's almost like an aerial washcloth...anyway...)

Wire's been going alright.  While it's also another thing that I don't think I'm going to pursue that much in the future, I've been having some fun with it, which is good.

At Duo Trapeze during week 6 (i.e. - the second duo trapeze class), it was really interesting since we all basically found out that none of us are really duo people at all.  We all tend to work better as soloists.  So, as a result, we ended up making a total mess on the trapeze, and sometimes even accidentally kicking each other off because we were taking up too much room (which was actually one of the more hilarious parts, when me and another girl in the group got pushed off of the trapeze, by the same person, in the same trick, in the exact same way).  Deena was rather bewildered, I could tell. :P  I can definitely agree with that I'm more of a soloist.  1.  I like to have my space on a piece of aerial equipment, and 2. I like to be in complete control.  If I lose some of those things, it just freaks me out.  What's interesting also is that some people are the complete opposite.  It can sometimes give confidence and such if there's another person on the apparatus with you.  I guess it's all just a matter of preference.

Anyway, I've been recently obsessing over velocity tricks on the trapeze.  I finally got my continuous hip circle recently, as well as my mill circle.  Those made me incredibly happy, and they're so fun!  I want to start sometime soon on my front and back elbow circles.  ^_^  I think they're great things to whip out unexpectedly in a trapeze act, particularly when they work well in a for a certain transition.

We recently also got another homework where we were able to view all of the inspiration videos that we all selected for the first homework.  One of the videos on that list was a trapeze act by one of the NECCA coaches.  The link is right below this paragraph and I highly recommend you watch it.  The only reason that I didn't chose it for this new homework was because it seemed a bit suck-uppy-ish to choose a NECCA coach for my most inspirational video, but trust me, it's definitely worth watching, and will serve somewhat as my model as I work on the trapeze in these upcoming months.  She does so many things that I like to see right in an act like this.  Her transitions are spectacular, she has a great combination of strength and flexibility, and her tricks are all very innovative.  There's definitely a bunch I'm going to have to try soon in open studio.

Caroline Wright - Trapeze

We also recently got an email regarding the choice day that's going to occur in the morning on November 2.  We have a choice of picking two rotations out of the following: German Wheel w/ Elsie, Single Point Trapeze w/ Aimée, Partner Tumbling w/ Bill, Aerial Chains w/ Deena, Stilt Walking w/ Jamie, and Contact Juggling w/ Tony.  Now, the first thing I thought when I saw Aerial Chains, was OH MY GOSH!  THEY'RE OFFERING AERIAL CHAINS!  HECK YES! Soo, basically I'm definitely choosing that.  I've heard that it's rather ouchy, and that I should even be wearing rubber boots and bike gloves, but at the same time, I feel it's definitely something I need to try at least once in my circus life!  So here I go!  I'm incredibly excited.  I'm likely going to be choosing single point trapeze as my second option.  (Originally, I was going to pick German Wheel as one of mine, but we're also selecting our three private lessons for November, for which I'm thinking of choosing German Wheel, Cyr Wheel, and that what is to be wonderful Hoop Diving class).  I'm definitely finding myself trying out new things.  I mean, I'm choosing three GROUND skills as my privates for a whole month!  How ridiculous is that?! (Pretty ridic... :P)

We thought this game was going bad, but that was
nothing until these two cards got played.  *facepalm*
Anyway, I think that should be a lot of what's going on for now.  Life back at home is going wonderfully, and we're all getting along really well at the circus house.  Some friends came over last night and we had a wonderful time playing a RIDICULOUS game of Fluxx (see picture to the right) and going through half of the red cards in apples to apples.  Oh boy that was a wonderful night of laughs.

OH, and also, just as a random side-note, last Friday night, I found myself at a gay nightclub in Northampton...pretty much the last place I figured that I'd be for a looong while, but it actually was quite awesome.  It was also very funny, though, since I'm of age to go there, but not of age to drink, they put too Xs in permanent marker on my hands, as to say "you can't hold a drink in this hand, or this one."  Age-restrictive laws never made me laugh so much...anyway...  A bunch of protrackers and I were there to support Marshall, who was going to be a part of the dance contest (for money) that they have there, and since the audience votes, it's a good idea to bring along your friends.  He, while  a completely awesome dancer, got unfortunately eliminated in the first round, but that was just because he was against the girl who ultimately won, who also had her birthday that day, and also seemed to have brought with her half of the nightclub, so it was a bit unfair and unfortunate in that way, but admittedly she could dance quite well.  Morgan (another protracker) decided to go in totally impromptu after Marshall got eliminated and TOOK THE FREAKING HOUSE DOWN.  She busted out a bunch of flips, handstands, contortion, and just everything wonderful (NECCA REPRESENT!  WOO).  She ended up winning second place! (which also had a cash prize associated with it).  I also quickly found out I am no better at pool than I was about five years ago (i.e. - rather sucky :P).  So yeah! That was pretty fun!  It was great seeing a bunch of guy-guy and girl-girl couples there dancing and having fun and whatnot there like nobody's business (or rather, as my friend Paul, said, like nobody's business except each other's), and not to mention that there was a lot of great eye-candy there too! :P Hahaha.

HA!  SO THERE!  I WROTE A BLOG POST!  Yay!!!

Will update soon!! :D
